Wood & Stone - Other Woodwork

On the other side of the fence, German civilians in Britain at the outbreak of war were also interned, predominantly at Knockaloe camp on the Isle of Man. The basket shown here, with detailed inlay work, was made at Knockaloe. On the right is a wooden box made by a Stoker serving on HMS Lancaster, carved with the places he visited between 1916 and 1919 while the ship was on duty in the Pacific, namely Peru and Chile.
