CONVERTED SHELL CASES

Once again, the shape meant shell cases were often converted into jugs, the heavy and watertight base meaning all it needed was a handle and a spout.

As a result, differentiation comes with the ingenuity and complexity of the design and decoration. Examples with a hinged lid can be found, often with a button as the finial. Also the shaping of the casing, rather than simply leaving it cylindrical, will make the example more unusual and sought after.
